Removing Mud From Carpet
|
Summer is here and it brings the rainy season. One of the worst things about it is tracking mud inside your home. It never fails either your kids or your pets are going to track mud into the house at least once during the rainy season, but most likely it will happen more than once. It doesn't seem too bad when the kids or your pets track mud into the house on your hardwood or tiled floors, but the carpet is another issue. Removing mud stains out of the carpet is not, but the good news is that there are some easy steps you can take to remove mud stains from your carpet without a lot of trouble.

|
1. The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that the mud stain on the carpet is completely dry. Be patient no one wants mud on their carpeting, but it really it will make cleaning it much easier.
2. Once the stain has dried you can brush off the dried mud by hand or you can get a soft bristle, dry scrub brush. What this is going to do is to loosen up the dried dirt so that you can vacuum it up. A wet-dry/shop vacuum works well because it has more suction power than your ordinary household vacuum.
3. Use a general spot cleaner available at most grocery stores or you can make the solution of a mild dish washing soap and water. Puts a teaspoon of a mild dish washing soap and a 32 ounce spray bottle and lightly shake. Mist the solution on the spot and block it up with a white towel or a dye free paper towel. Be careful not to rub the spot, as this could spread it and damage the carpet. Allow the area to dry before putting it back to use.
